User-generated content hub drives brand awareness for national bus company

User generated content (UGC) is the ultimate way to drive brand awareness and create engagement with your customers. So, when Megabus came to us asking for help to engage with their loyal followers, we knew exactly what to do.

Challenge

Megabus wanted to increase brand awareness and sales, as well as improve communication and engagement with customers.

Solution

We created a content hub with the hashtag #megadays, which showcased the best days out across the UK. The hub featured an interactive map of the UK, and encouraged budding travellers to identify and pin their favourite activities and destinations. Megabus awarded a voucher to anyone who entered an idea to drive sales of selected routes. #Megadays was a fully integrated campaign across both digital and offline platforms, including an outdoor roadshow-style event in Birmingham city centre which highlighted the company’s routes and gave guests the chance to receive a voucher if they used the hashtag #megadays on social media. We monitored social mentions on the day, rewarding those who interacted.

Results

The campaign proved highly effective; in the first three weeks of the #megadays microsite launch, it received:
  • 7,775 sessions
  • 16,863 page views
  • An average session duration of 1.25 minutes
  • 982 #megadays ideas
  • 672 email sign-ups and voucher giveaways
Thanks to the integration of the #Megadays campaign across both digital and offline platforms, we successfully increased brand awareness, encouraged participation on social channels and grew the subscriber base by offering vouchers in exchange for ideas.
